suzycue, simply adore all of your garden pictures. Sigh, they remind me of a woman I knew who had a log cabin house surrounded by fragrant, beautiful flowers and plants.

This is by far my favorite garden. I have always wanted a pond but don't know where to start. I envy you..

Literally staart by digging a really big hole! 12 to 18 inches is penty deep. The most expensive part is the liner. Cut to fit and leave some hanging over the edge to be covered by rocks. The rest is a simple filter. You can create a nice waterfall at one end just by running the tubing under and behind stacked rocks. The rest is the fun part : landscaping. Hostas and ferns are great for shade. They grow quickly and drape nicely.

My two sons dug a kidney shaped hole about 18 inches deep and put a pool liner inside. We edged it with flat rocks and planted hostas and shasta daisies around the outside.

The little fountain I found in someones trash. There is a fiter to keep it clean nd also to keep the water moving so mosquitos don't bree. it has some 10 for a dollar goldfish in it also. Sometimes they live thru the winter if they don't get frozen or eaten by racoons : \ We keep the pump going all winter so mostly they surface on the first sunny day in late feb. early march.
