I deconstructed a charity shop M&S tie to make the pattern, but with basic geometry one could be made from scratchDifficulty:
Category: Sewing
Type of item: Accessory
For: Men
Style: Hipster, Geeky, Cute
Materials
Roughly one FQ of cotton Pokemon fabric, remnants of lining cotton (slightly shinier synthetics or low percentage silk fabrics are good too), and 28x5" non-woven interfacing (but woven would have been much better)
What was your inspiration?
It was requested by a friend when I put a poll on my facebook page asking likers what I should do with it- he got the most votes so I went ahead and did it.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
If possible always go for silkier fabric than I used (spoonflower's cottonsilk would be ideal) and woven interfacing instead of the fusible non-woven I used (it didn't provide any structure at all) and don't continue the interfacing into the lining at the short end: it needs to be of a consistent thickness to pull through when it's untied.
