What was your inspiration?
My husband is a poet and I wanted to make him a quilt surrounded with his favorite poets. I let him pick out 9 poets and their poetry--the 10th (the detail) is my husband. I digitized his picture from his drivers license, the rest from historical pictures.
What are you most proud of?
I am grateful to capture the likenesses in thread. This is on of my first attempts to digitize so many faces.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Use really good software.Think that the empty space is just as important as the space that us filled with thread. Try to keep the colors in the same family.
