What was your inspiration?

I had a lace knitting phase a while ago, and I purchased the yarn for this in Finland a couple of years ago. This year I got a new winter coat which, what do you know, is the right color for this project, so time to finish this one. The pattern was free online.

What are you most proud of?

I had to adjust the beret size while knitting, and since it was knitted from the top down, that wasn't quite that easy to do...but it came out just right. It is a rather pleasant feeling when things go right on gut instinct alone.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I could've easily ripped my hair with the lace pattern....there was something so counter-intuitive about it, and I kept making mistakes, and the yarn was next to impossible to unravel, so decision was made to just keep going. This time the dare worked out, you'd never see where the mistakes happened unless you really started investigating (please don't!) The yarn is very light weight and very fluffy, therefore the end result is forgiving (50g=165m)

You can always try to see if Google translate will work with it, but if you are comfortable reading pattern charts, cast on 48 and follow the chart (they remain more or less the same across languages). I can provide a brief translation as well if you need. The tam itself doesn't really need a pattern, even, any basic pattern for a hat will do.
