I've been interested in this type of thing for quite some time but I'm scared to take the leap! It looks like in your photo that it's mostly half square triangle pieces. Is it? And if there's other shapes besides square, what would they be? This is a beautiful scene, good job!

Thank you for your comments. This one does have quite a few half square triangles and the pieces are really tiny. I wanted the finished size to be 24x24 so that influenced the size of the pieces. However you can start with much larger ones. There is also software on the Victoria and Albert museum site that transfers photos to pixilated images and produces a graph pattern. http://www.vam.ac.uk/microsites/quilts/patchwork There is also some interesting quilting history articles on the website, Good luck with your project. Can't wait to see it here,
