It takes time, patience and practice to make these beautiful, yet simple, piped scroll designs. Watch Joshua John Russell's "Modern Piping" for tips on stabilizing your hands and how to work with royal icing. Practice your piping designs on wax paper taped to the fridge or taped to the side of a cake pan! When you are ready, pipe curly "S" shapes freehand onto cake. Color gumpaste, roll thin, cut with flower cutter. Press flower gently into veining mold. Allow flowers to dry. Brush with petal color dust and a little shimmer powder. Cut 4" lengths of wire and bend one end into a small loop. Put a small ball of gumpaste covering the loop of the wire. Press gently onto the underside of flower using sugar glue to adhere. Apply a sugar pearl to the center of each flower with sugar glue. Allow to dry, wrap wire with floral tape.
