Quilting: Pinwheel Polka
25 kudoz

Pinwheel Polka

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Quick-Strip Paper Piecing »

Instructions

Some of the seams are quite bulky, and I found that spray starch helped.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Boys

Materials

I ordered the fabric from MSQC, the black and white fabric is from a range called "Tuxedo". I was going to long arm it, but I think ditching will make the stars pop even more. I'll post photos once its done.

What was your inspiration?

Peggy, of course!

What are you most proud of?

That I managed to match my points exactly using the PPPP method.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Enjoy! It's way easier than it looks.

Love your fabrics and color contrast, really POPS! I too use MSQCo, love there precuts and Jenny's classes. It is so exciting to have a fellow quilter to follow all the way from South Afica......wow, that's amazing. Thanks for sharing, love your work!

I love your fabrics! The contrast really compliments the pattern. You red and yellow look so great together!

Wow - I LOVE the fabrics you chose for your Pinwheel Polka quilt! Those black and white backgrounds create a fantastic effect - can't wait to see how you quilt it. I quilted both of mine with over-all patterns, because the fabrics were fairly busy.

Consider shadow quilting in the gray and black fabrics. Or consider doing some rays to continue the pinwheel shape idea. Or, the pinwheels have two fabrics. Quilt a third line to the tips to make the pinwheel shape larger.

Thank you! As my kids always say "you're not such a pretty face". I'll let you know what I decide.

The more I see this pattern the more I like it. You have great fabric selection which really make the pinwheels pop.

Thank you. I'm still not sure how to quilt it, except to stick-in-the-ditch the whole thing. Any suggestions?
