What was your inspiration?

This all started with a commercial pattern a year ago. I realized I could make it better, cooler, cuter, and more versatile. Since then I have made it my own. :) I've been making different types of flowers for about a year now. I've made probably about 60 pieces.

I've been experimenting with different tweeks for these pinwheels. I've had this idea for about 9 months for using tulle on one, but wasn't sure how to do it. This afternoon I finally came up with a way to incorporate it. I've had an unfinished pinwheel sitting on my worktable for about 4 months (which was rather convenient). So I dropped what I was doing and just went at it.

What are you most proud of?

That I finally used tulle. I've never used it before! I've always found the stuff fascinating. I bought a few remnants of different colors, but never unrolled them. It seemd a bit intimidating to me. I was rather surprised that it was easier to manage than I thought. I still have some tweeks to work out, but I'm happy with the way this prototype came out. :)

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

If you find a pattern that you kind of like, tweek it and mold it into your own thing! Branch out with unfamiliar materials too. Run with the idea. You can usually pull it apart and start over if it doesn't work the first time. :)
