Pink elephants all around!

Hi I'm so sorry I didn't see your comment. This cake was actually a smaller cake using my 6" rounds as the base and then 4" as the top tier. I baked them, iced in between each layers for stability and covered with a thin layer of icing all over each tier. While I let them chill in the fridge I mixed pink icing gel into the white fondant that i had on hand, mixed it completely and rolled it out flat (enough to cover the bottom tier - 6" 2 layer cake that I had chilled) I covered the bottom tier, trimmed it around and popped it back into the fridge once I smoothed out the edges and all around it make sure there wasn't and bubbles. Next I did the top tier the same way in white fondant and popped it back in the fridge. While waiting for those to set I made pink modeling chocolate by mixing 1 bag pink candy/chocolate chips you can find at any craft store w/ 1/4 c light corn syrup. Melt the chips first by their directions, then once they are completely melted down, mix in the syrup. It starts to sieze up and that is correct, just make sure you have mixed it together and then I break the big blob into three sections and place into sandwhich bags to then place into the fridge to chill. Once they are chilled I can take them out and use it like clay, take it out of the bag and break off the amount you want, knead it a little (it starts off hard) and then you can shape it into anything you want. I found some fun looking elephants that I liked the look of so I made my version of them, shaped the ears and set them aside to harden, made the eyes and then when I was ready I added the ears, set him in the fridge to set. Once all of that was done I just used my little cookie cutters to cut out the little shapes along the sides, I used straws to insert into the cake to be used as supports for the 2nd tier and because the elephant was made out of modeling chocolate he was a little heavy so I also put a tiny piece of card board under him like I put under the cake tier, with a little icing under each I stacked everything, iced around the bottoms and decorated as I thought it needed. Absolutely! Easily interchangeable with blue/green/yellow or pink - even keeping the elephant grey and the other parts for a boy or a girl.
