Pieceful Peacock beginning
Dreamweaver assembly line!

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Quick-Strip Paper Piecing »

Instructions

OMG! Have a blast with color and just have fun! If you make mistakes that's okay, that's how we learn!

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Home

Style: Funky

Materials

100 % cottons, Peggy martin's paper piecing video. All materials needed are covered in the course video.

What was your inspiration?

The peacock in the fabric and the stash of materials available to me at home. I'm trying to use up what I have at home first so then I can go out and buy New materials! I have some fabrics that are probably 30 yrs old! The other inspiration is the ease in making the blocks and Peggy's way of teaching. She herself is an inspiration! Thank you Peggy Martin!

What are you most proud of?

That I have learned something new!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Don't be afraid, you will love paper piecing. And the best thing about it is that you can watch the course over and over and the availability of resources like the discussion blogs and the material list and being able to meet new people. Just have FUN!

I hope you don't mind me asking but I was wondering if you could tell me the name and mfg of your peacock fabric that you used in your Peaceful Peacock quilt block. We've been searching for black background Peacock fabric for a gown for my daughter. Any assistance you could provide would be appreciated.

Of course I don't mind you asking! That's why these classes are so great we get to share! Like the Care Bears use to say, "Sharing is Caring." LOL! Any way, I will look on my fabric and see if there is a name. If not I can check with the fabric store where I bought it. It's owned by and older couple and they are very knowledgeable on their fabrics.

JanJo, Timeless Treasures is the company name. PLUME is the pattern name, and the fabric number to the particular fabric you asked about is CM8662. If you can't find it at your store then go online to Timelesstreasures.com. In their search bar type fabric then it has a box where they have the fabric name you can type the name PLUME or touch the arrow to the righ and a drop box will have the names to choose from. it will take you to the fabric you're looking for. I hope this helps? Let me know how your search goes.

Well I finished the blocks for my Dreamweaver, It's going to be delayed for a little bit. I made a design change which requires a bit more material for finishing touches. I was able to at least finish the top to my Green Dreams quilt. I posted a picture in the class projects area. Still having fun!

I basically was only able to find the plume collection in a FQ bundle, and the piece with the actual peacocks on it in a 24" panel. I'm I hearing you say that your little quilt shop where you bought the fabric was selling by the yard? I may be doing a purchas from your little LQS if that's the case.
