The top was completed as I worked my way through the course - a great really easy and very effective pattern,, thanks Camille. However I had to wait for deliver of the border and binding fabrics, plus the backing is a story in itself. This quilt is being donated to the Parents Support Group at the boys-only school where I work. It will be raffled to raise funds. Our school colours are red, black, white and grey so this layer cake was perfect (and not at all girly despite the name). Apologies for the quality of the photo - taken with my iPod late in the afternoon (hence the dull light and long shadows) and fighting a breeze. The colours don't look so dull in reality.

What a wonderful quilt. I did one a long time back that was similar in its design.
