Instructions

I make these for anyone who wants a special one-of-a-kind gift. I've made lots of them with pictures of pets, graduations, baby's first picture, etc. I embroider whatever the customer wants, like a person or pet's name, dates, sayings. I sell them for $25.00 unless I have to ship it, and then a shipping fee would be added.

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Cute

Materials

Cotton poplin photo to fabric cotton, Isacord embroidery thread, cotton fabrics, zipper, pillow form.

What was your inspiration?

The first one I made was a gift for my friend from work. It was a picture of her golden lab. Eventually, the dog chewed it up! When other people I work with saw it, the orders for them came fast and furious.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Start with a pillow form, I use the 14 x 14 inch pillow. It's your choice if you want to frame the picture and do embroidery.

You need an inkjet printer to use this type of photo fabric. I would call Staples or Office Depot and ask them if they could do it for you. I know they have laser printers but may have access to an inkjet. I get my photo fabric at Jo-Ann's fabrics but Avery has come out with a printable fabric #3384 and Staples and Office Depot carries Avery products. If they can

If they can't do it, ask a friend. All you have to do is pick out the digital picture from your computer, put in the specail photo fabric and print. After it's done, wait a couple minutes, pull off the paper backing and rinse the fabric picture until clear in cool water. Some of the ink will come out. Because of this, I usually enhance my digital picture to print it darker to take this into account. If you need any further help, you can email me at doubledee@tampabay.rr.com
