Phone Book Quilt

Phone Book Quilt with borders!

Phone Book Quilt with borders!

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Scrap Quilting »

Instructions

Make four extra sewn-over-paper blocks like in the quilt. Off-set at corners. Visit my blog http://peppercory.blogspot.com to read about it.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Other

Style: Funky, Traditional

Materials

Mostly cottons and then sewn over phone book pages.

What was your inspiration?

After thinking about it, I wanted a larger quilt than the original Phone Book Quilt. Now the finished quilt measures 48" by 56".

What are you most proud of?

Still love the colors and didn't let the lack of a particular fabric (couldn't find the cherry gingham!) prevent me from finishing.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Sometimes you have to sleep on it before the "right" solution to finishing the quilt comes to you.

No rub-off here. Once phone book is several months old, the ink seems to be set. If you're unsure or want to be safe you can 1) set the phone book pages by ironing and then cooling or 2) use tracing paper instead. Both will work.

P.S. This is beautiful, by the way. Nice work! :-)

My question is: does the ink rub off on the backs of the square? Phone books seem to do that in my experience, so I'm wondering if it would rub off on the fabric.....or even on my hands while working with it. How was it for you?
