What was your inspiration?
I really wanted to make the dress exactly how Gertie shows in the video. It was all about learning new techniques, and almost everything about constructing the dress was something I've never really done before, but knew about (some of it I didn't though!)
What are you most proud of?
It was really fun getting into the nice hand stitched details. I am usually not patient enough and cut corners, but I took my time and did everything the right way. :)
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
It's best to follow all of Gerties advice throughout the videos. They are very thorough. Take the time to get the proper materials, Though I would watch some of the videos all the way through since she adds some tidbits on things you can substitute (such as the selvage of your fabric can stand in as twill tape, which I ended up doing because I kept forgetting to grab twill tape, and it worked like a charm)
It's best if you already know how to construct clothing as she doesn't go over every single seam.
Get good fabric! you have only a great dress (with a lot of hard work put in it) to gain :)
