What are you most proud of? I love taking a pattern and adding some additional embellishments, like picots & beads.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Don't be afraid to add your own special touches to a pattern to create something original!

This is a pattern that I would love to try. I hope we find out it's in a book I can buy somewhere.

Here's the website for the pattern I used. http://web.archive.org/web/20040222070308/http://www.geocities.com/emmacrew/tatting/snowflakes/flutterflake.html I embellished the pattern a little by adding oval pearl beads in place of the picots in the center of the snowflake and added pearls to the chains above the butterflies.

Thank you for the link for the snowflake. I couldn't seem to get into that site but Goggling "Emma Crew, butterfly snowflake" finally led me to the pattern (called Flutterflake, BTW) at this URL: http://www.oocities.org/emmacrew/tatting/snowflakes/flutterflake.html It's so beautiful but I don't know that I have those kinds of skills yet. What size thread did you use? I love the beads in the middle.

Hi Oddsoxx, I'm glad you were able to find the pattern. The only thing I did to this snowflake was to add the beads. Merilee shows how to do that in Lesson 8 of her Shuttle Tatting Class on Craftsy. I love how they turned out too! I used size 30 thread. You might want to give it a try. I love tatting! It's an adventure in creativity!!!!

Sewnsew, That is absolutely gorgeous! What beautiful work you do! This class is just wonderful - I, too, love tatting and I love what you say about it being an adventure in creativity!

Thanks for your kind comments CreativePug1! It really fascinates me how you can take a few basic stitches and techniques and combine them in different ways to come up with completely different designs!

Very nice and I love the center beads in the snowflake.

Thank you, jbhorsetech! The beads go give that special touch!
