What was your inspiration?
I do test projects for new patterns by Caitlin Maire Maclaine who loves incorperating items such as the creamer bottle in projects as a method of recycling. Unusual banks are among children's favorite gifts. This pattern features easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions with photos throughout. It uses basic crochet stitches. The embroidered face makes it safe for children. The pattern includes an embroidery stitch guide and a full size face template.
What are you most proud of?
How well the project turned out. Everyone who saw it loved it. It was easy to make, the stitch combinations shape the project. The finished project measures from seat to top of head = 9.25 inches, the legs = 7 inches; Total = 15.25inches. It is an excellant size for a child's bank and makes a cute shelf-sitter doll.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Don't be intimidated by this project. Its easier than it appears. It uses basic crochet and embroidery stitches. It is like a stuffed toy using a bottle instead of fiberfill for the body. If you want to make a gift with this bank, start as soon as possible to have it on time. However, the pattern works quickly once you get into the project. The bottle required to make the bank will also be available with the pattern.
