Patchwork Envelope Pillow

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Sewing Studio: Fashion Fitting, Home Decor & More »

Instructions

I combined the instructions from the course for the envelope pillow with instructions from Diana's book for the patchwork pillow.

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Cute, Casual, Funky, Whimsical

Materials

home dec weight chevron print fabric + quilting cotton (for sides and back)

What was your inspiration?

I wanted to make pillows for on my bed, and was afraid that a patterned print would be too "busy" with the design on the bed spread, but that a solid color would be too "heavy." So I decided to frame the print with the quilting cotton to balance it out.

What are you most proud of?

The French seams! I looove them, and think I'll do French seams on every project I can, now :)

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Measure two or three times. If you're like me, that still won't be enough ;) But it's a pillow, so you can always make it smaller or add patches on for interest (or to make it bigger ;)). It's pretty difficult to completely ruin it-- even if you accidentally cut it straight down the middle, you'll just end up with two smaller accent pillows!
