What was your inspiration?
Ann Petersen's Beyond Machine Quilting class inspired me to pull this pieced top out of the closet and quilt feathers, spirals, and "pumpkin seeds" all over it.
What are you most proud of?
This is the first time I've FMQed actual feathers, swirls, and pumpkin seeds on a quilt. I usually just meander, stipple, or stitch circles all over the quilt. For this quilt I took my time, marked the various designs, and then quilted them.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Be patient. It took me a lot of hours to free-motion quilt this piece, but the end results are worth it!
