Parasol

Make It

This project was made from an independent Craftsy designer's pattern:
Lace Parasol by Ira Rott »

Difficulty:

Category: Crocheting

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Romantic

Materials

mercerized cotton yarn

What was your inspiration?

I loved the pattern and, in our town there is a youth festival in July at the end of the school year. The girls and lady teachers were white dresses, the girls a wreath of cornflowers blue, white and pink on their head and the boys were blue pants and white shirts. So, I thought the umbrellar would be a nice accessory for the VIP ladies in town

What are you most proud of?

the patience I developped in crocheting round after round

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

The pattern description I found complicated and therefore worked from the chart. The yarn is not the same everywhere. So I had to try out several qualities and several hook sizes first. If the crocheted piece is not the required measure you have to develop an idea how to continue with part of the pattern. It will work, definitively.
Getting a nice umbrellar to take apart is another story. However, in Switzerland I found a factory that sells "raw-umbrellars".
