What advice would you give someone starting this project? The pattern description I found complicated and therefore worked from the chart. The yarn is not the same everywhere. So I had to try out several qualities and several hook sizes first. If the crocheted piece is not the required measure you have to develop an idea how to continue with part of the pattern. It will work, definitively. Getting a nice umbrellar to take apart is another story. However, in Switzerland I found a factory that sells "raw-umbrellars".

I used DMC cotton yarn (bought in Turkey) size No 10, 530 m = 580 yds, hook 1.5 or 1.75, takes about 200 to 250 g of yarn. You may check under www.dmc.com if there is any store in your area that sells the same quality. thanks for your nice comment and good luck on your project.
