What was your inspiration?

To try to get a pair of pants to fit my ageing body! I would, ideally, like to have the pants reach to about where the elastic is - at my non-existent waist.
I used a super-long zipper that I had in a box!
I think is not too bad overall but I would like the pants to come up a little higher at my 'waist'. Perhaps I will try increasing the whole length above the crotch and try again.

What are you most proud of?

Nothing in these photos!! Even worse now the four photos are there!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I have questions rather than advice! I had four photos (front, rear, two sides) but three of the pictures were deemed "too tall to look good on Craftsy" when this one was accepted? (all are about the same size)

OK I found out I can "edit' my project but still can't see what "too tall" means. I will try cropping the other photos are bit more but in fact the one here is "taller" than the others. Cropping further didn't work. I will wait from advice from someone more knowledgeable!

I found a place to ask Craftsy about the photos and they advised that photos should be close to 'square'. I retrieved the originals and cropped them to "nearly square" so now you have the untidy sewing room background as well.

Great fit for the first try. I am still struggling with mine, and am on the second muslin. I will never give up. Hope to post pic soon.

Great fit for the first time. Actually, great fit-period! If you did want to wear them and not make them any shorter you could do a hem facing and maybe only use a 1/4" seam. They look fantastic!

Thanks - but (as sson as Christmas visitors depart) I plan to do some 'modification' work on the top before I see if I will actually wear them!

Thank you. This gives me some inspiration to make them, now that I see them on a body shape like mine. They look like a very good fit on you.

Thanks - but there is still some work to do. (See comment above!)

I commented yesterday but my comment appears to be 'lost' - I have been surprised at the number of Aussies and Kiwis on this Craftsy class.

Thanks so much Sew2pcs! That is SO much better. I thought I was pretty cluey about computers but I hadn't absorbed that bit before. Thank you. Onwards, ever onwards!!

Sew2pcs, Thanks for your comments. I have more trouble watching the video than anything. It is maybe my broadband service but it is slow to load and I find it very difficult to move through to watch the section I want. But I will persevere.

Just a suggestion from an old, and getting older, computer geek (that would be me, LOL) - when you are playing the videos, if you look to the lower right of the image you'll see "30 second repeat" and to the right of that the letters HD. HD stands for high definition, which requires more bandwidth and more RAM. By default Craftsy broadcasts in HD. You can toggle it off by clicking on the HD. You'll see a red bar appear across the 2 letters which are kind of greyed out. To turn it back on do the same thing. My system is less than a year old and I have pretty decent bandwidth for my connection speed, but there have been times when I've had to do the same thing. A pain but it works. :-)

Davesmom, Thanks for your comments. I was aware that they would be a bit short - that was the length of the piece of 'expendable' fabric I had! I thought that if they worked out, I could crop them to above my ankle bones. But as it happens, I think the crotch length needs too much altering and they probably will not be worn. I WILL try just adding to the top of the waist (and maybe re-shaping to the pattern) to see if they will be at all wearable. I DO NOT tuck in anyway and so that "correction" will not be visible to anyone but me.

Great job! I wonder if you you might find a solution by adding 3/4 inch to the band on the right side. Looking at the pic it looks like your waist is just a bit higher on that side which is not at all unusual in our gracefully growing older boides, LOL. Your fit looks terrific. I can't wait to get started. My pattern hasn't arrived but it's only been a week or so since I signed up. In the meantime I'm watching the videos through a few times to get it sunk into my head more before I start cutting anything. Thanks for sharing. :-)

Hi Bevaau, These pants have a great fit! I see no wrinkles to speak of. My concern would be your length as I do believe these pants need hemming. They may be just fine . My thought is if you want to turn them under a 1/4 inch and then hem them an inch will they be too short. The pants look the right length right now. If you wear shoes that will make them look a bit shorter. I am really impressed with the great fit you have with these pants. I am sure lengthening above the crotch would be the way to go. Good luck. Hope my pants will look as good when I get my pattern.
