Paleontology - Prehistoric frog/lizard

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Advanced Fondant Techniques »

Difficulty:

Category: Cake Decorating

Type of item: Food

For: Children

Style: Funky, Geeky, Eco-Friendly

Materials

Cake base cover with frosting and fondant; rock/legde and frog/lizard are made from rice krispie treats frosted and covered with fondant; plants are made with gumpaste (fern leaves are real).

What was your inspiration?

This was 1 out of 7 centerpieces I created for my friend's son's Bar Mitzvah. He loves paleontology! Each centerpiece reflected a different vignette of prehistoric times or items: Dinosaur footprint; Amber (fosilized bugs in tree sap); Giant prehistoric dragonfly; Dinosaur nest with eggs; Prehistoric frog/lizard; Prehistoric nautilus; and a Mastodon stuck in a tar pit.
