Here are some details about my project:
Category Quilting

What materials did you use? Cotton and batik scraps, organza, fabric paint, colored markers

What are you most proud of? The thread painting. I didn't even know what it was 6 months ago when I signed up for my first Crafsty class.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Take each step, or layer, of the quilt at a time. It's easy to get overwhelmed with undertaking such a big project otherwise.

This is lovely. So much beautiful detail.

Looks great! You have some puckering along the tree trunk. Are you going to quilt the "sky" part to get rid of that? And, I would suggest a final hard pressing and trim to make sure it lays flat against the wall.I like the cut through piece out of the brown stripey fabric. It looks like a cliff face! Congratulations and keep going! Judith

Thanks Judith, I'm pretty happy with how it has turned out. I have already attempted to iron/steam it and it does hang flat now. However, before I bind it, there is still some puckering around the tree trunk. I did lightly quilt the "sky," which you can't see in the picture. Would quilting it more heavily now help with the puckering? Or has the pressing/steaming done what it will do, and I should just chalk it up as a learning experience? I guess I should have quilted the sky more heavily first, and then thread painted the tree? Would that have prevented some of the puckers? I am very happy with the "ground" portion, less so with the "sky" and love that the cut off plant and background reads like a cliff!
