Quilting: Painted Silk Plumeria

Painted Silk Plumeria

Instructions

I traced a lovely flower design onto my fabric, then began adding light washes of water/inktense color into the flower. After the watercolor effects were done, I moved on to a liner brush and added details to the flowers. Lastly I added a bit of the metallic paint to various areas to give them sparkle. Quilting will come next....

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Casual, Cute

Materials

Silk fabric, inktense pencils, water, metallic acrylic paint, water, iron

What was your inspiration?

Polymer clay hairpins with plumeria flowers attached.

What are you most proud of?

Learning how to add depth to the flowers using different colors of ink.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Give it a try! You don't have to use silk... it is just shimmery and looks pretty. A PFD (prepared for dying) fabric works well as a "canvas".
