Category: Other

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Classic, Traditional, Romantic, Casual

Materials

paint, glaze, and wax

What was your inspiration?

my client had many rustic early american painted antique pieces of furniture and accessories. I thought this finish would reflect her style and color palette better

What are you most proud of?

I don't have a detail shot of this, but I put a water ring on the mantle where she leaves her nightly martini glass :)

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

start with a small project first (like a small toy box or end table) get familiar with the effects you can achieve before tackling a large architectural feature like a fireplace.

Did you use the milk paint on this? What colors and what colors in the glaze? Beautiful. I have a bookcase that I would like to do in a similar fashion. I have just started reviewing your online class. I am really excited to get started. Stayed up half the night watching the classes.

I love this! I have a fireplace that is just brick. Plain old boring brownish brick. Evan the tiny, nothing of a mantel is just a couple of rows of brick. I have always thought I would love to add some sort of reclaimed wood to it. Like adding more of a mantel, but not sure how to do it. If you ever get the chance to do something along that line, please offer a class on how. I would sign up for it in a heat beat. I love the look of reclaimed wood. Actually, reclaimed anything is great! Thanks for all your ideas.
