Materials

I used smooth river rocks I've collected, varying in shape, size and color. I painted the letters with acrylic paint and then added a coat of glossy varnish. Not recommended for young children.

What was your inspiration?

I love collecting rocks from all over. I use the as decoration or momentoes of where I've been. I also have school age children and this is a fun thing for them to do at the dinner table and learn at the same time.

What are you most proud of?

I love creating things that can be used. This is definately one of them!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Choose your rocks depending on the children using them. Quarter size ones work well and won't break easily. Also try to use lighter color rocks or lighter paint, the varnish makes the black color disappear on the darker rocks. Have fun hunting!
