Opted not to do the magic ring to start the hat or eyes.
Substituted a crocheted circle (10 sc into a 3 chain loop using a G hook) to make the black “button” eyes. Didn’t have time to buy buttons plus the buttons could be a choking hazard if they came off.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?
The hat works up very fast, but having to make all of the extra things like the eyes, nose, and tassels, and attaching them are very time consuming.
