What was your inspiration?
Made this cake for the brother of a friend of mine. Both he and his fiance were very outdoorsy people. The bride wanted a cake which reflected her love of Sunflowers, Dragonflies, and the colours purple and red.
What are you most proud of?
The bouquets on top of each cake which reflected all the wishes of the bride. Also, the idea of adding live asparagus ferns to the bottom of each layer.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Give yourself lots of time for the flowers. Making the bouquets can lead to breakage in the flowers and leaves, so be sure to make extras. While making the bouquets, I worked over a towel on the table to cut down on breakage.
