Pattern Info

Pattern info for this project can be found here:
Tall Trim the Tree by Cindi Edgerton

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Cute, Funky

Materials

100% cotton and cotton flannelette and buttons on which to hang the decorations.

What was your inspiration?

The pattern and the desire to have a Christmas Tree. We live in a small house with no children and have not had a Christmas tree for many years, only decorations. This was perfect for us. It gives us a tree without taking the space needed for seating.

What are you most proud of?

It looks goods and paper piecing makes it quite easy.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

It can actually be made with pieces from your scrap piles.

What a great idea! I have a couple of long narrow spots where this would work perfectly. Another idea for next Christmas!

N reason to be stuck in a rut. Sometimes we need to be led astray, it makes life more interesting. Have fun gathering your fabric and making your tree.

Just to let you know, my sister has order one for next year. Now I have to dig out all the scraps left over. I hope I have enough. Did you get your fabric.

Oh I just love it... so much so I've just ordered the pattern! I especially love the idea of using your own decorations, and dressing the tree each year. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful tree, and thanks to you next year I will have a tree again :-) Merry Christmas!

I am so glad that someone else will have a tree like mine. I really do love it. We also found that the white background fabric that I used glows in the dark, so you can actually see the tree in the dark. Unfortunately I do not know where I got the fabric. It seems to me that the name on the selvedge had "Frost" in it. Merry Christmas to you and your family and all the best for the New Year.

It really looks 3D. I am beginning to think that I might need one of those so that the dog doesn't attack baubles, lights, etc

The decorations are real decorations. Only the tree is a quilt. The decorations hang on buttons.

Very good idea! Especially when there are little ones who can't seem to keep hands off ornaments! =)

The ornaments are real and can be pulled off by little ones.

You should post a picture of yours so that we can see it. How big did you make yours. Mine is about 75 inches high by 26 inches wide. What did you decorate the tree with. My decorations came from the small table top trees that we had for several years. Did you and the kids make the decorations.

My tree is about 7 feet tall and about 4.5 feet wide at the base. It tapers to a point at the top like a classic story book tree. My kids collered index cards that I cut and glued into a paper chain to put on it. They also colored papter candy canes, stars, globes, hearts and gingerbread men. It is rather cute.

Your tree has inspired me to sew a more permanent eco friendly tree for next year... to use for many years :)
