I really admire your choice of fabric and colors. This is the first example of the orange peel design that makes me think of the delicious, sweet orange. I haven't really liked the pattern before.

Love the colors in your table runner. The brown has such depth, it looks like a silk, but I imagine it is a cotton. Really very nice combination of colors.

Yes, it is an older cotton from my stash. Sort of an ombre plaid is the best way to describe it.

This "orange peel" is beautifully done. You did a great job with attaching the peels - it is difficult to maintain the same width of points on the inner light peace. I love your choice of binding also. Congratulations.

Just started to try this. Some confusion. When placing the second corner piece to the 4in square should I stitch over the first seam. And should the seams be pressed to the centre of the oval or to the corner.

That's right Helen, use the blunted tips of the corner pieces to help with placement and to form square corners when pieced. You will stitch over the first seam 1/4"" in to make a point. Press toward the corners, your block will lay flatter that way. This is definitely a more challenging project and takes some practice. I hope this helps!

Mari Jean, this orange Peel table runner project was one of my first patterns I had written. Reading your comment made me go back and look at the instructions - you are right, I didn't give any cutting instructions, just a computer generated picture to follow. I will go back in today and give a update to those instructions with some cutting information. Thanks

Hi Again Mari Jean, I have to correct myself from what I wrote in reply below. Although I do not give any strip cutting information in these i instructions, the pieces to cut of either an oval shape or a corner shape are given with a number amount to cut of each and the diagram will also help. I do have to say, that if writing those instruction today, I would have been clearer, but the information you are looking for is there, just cut out the number of pieces indicated by the ten different prints. See the diagram letters as reference.

Have you seen how to make the seams "swirl" in a multiple seam junction? You have to take your seam ripper and release just the threads that are past the connecting seam line ( the threads that are near the edge of the pieces by the point) , once these outside edges are released, you put your finger on the point, push down on the point and it twirls or "swirls" the points, redistributing the bulk a bit. Sorry, I don't know the technical term for this.

Plan to try this soon. It reminds me of the finished effect of cathedral window patchwork which I enjoyed years ago. A different 'curvy' technique to practise, though. Looking forward to it. Thanks for sharing. :-)

Thanks for the pattern. Looks like a good runner to use up some of my stash, I'm going to try and make it for spring or summer. will let you know how it comes out.

I just realized this is a totally different method than we used. We cut and sewed circles, turned them and went from there.........this looks a little more difficult, but beautiful.

I took a class on this, and loved it. We did the placemats for the table. It wasn't nearly as hard as it looks. Just a little time consuming, but fun. Beautiful results. Ready to make some more.
