Worsted weight wool yarn (brand unknown); Frog Tree alpaca (orange & sage), multi-colored carrying thread; double-pointed knitting needles #5 and #7.
What was your inspiration?
Shoes. Really. My friend bought me a pair of orange shoes, and I didn't have anything they'd go with. I love purple and orange together, and I have a purple mohair sweater (not handknit) that is very warm and that I wear as a coat in the wintertime. You don't miss me coming down the street in this ensemble!
What are you most proud of?
I love the way the carrying thread sparked up the hat and took it out of the realm of ordinary. It was a bit large when I got finished with it, so I had to felt it a little when I got finished. It's very warm!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
If you like 'em, don't be afraid to combine bold colors. In a hat, they won't overwhelm. Okay, maybe a little bit! I get lots of comments when i wear it.
