What materials did you use? Pure cotton "Pirates", cotton thread, polyester wadding. The "Pirates" fabric is lovely, having pirates (of course), pieces of eight, skulls and crossbones and fish on it in reds, blacks, blues and cream. I was lucky enough to find some fabric on the internet with galleons on it, which turned out to be just right for the backing.

What are you most proud of? Oddly enough, this is exactly the same pattern (disappearing nine-patch) as the two "Girly Quillows" that I finished a couple of weeks ago. The fabric gives a completely different look, suitable for a little boy. This is for my great-grandson and I'm currently finishing off another, almost identical ,quillow for his little brother. Once finished, they will be put away for Christmas. Children have plenty of toys at Christmas nowadays, so I've made them something else - something they can keep forever.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Go for it! You won't need a pattern - just make it up as you go along, as I do! Quillows are lovely to give and receive as presents because, even when the child is too young to need a quilt, the quillow can be folded up into the pocket on the back to make a cushion for the nursery.

Great job again and v different from the girly ones... Amazing how fabric changes a pattern!

Thank you, Desna! If I do this pattern many more times the sewing machine won't need me to guide it - I shall just put it on "auto pilot"!

You must have had a lot of fun making that and the little man will have even more fun using it

There will be two of them shortly - pretty well identical, for two little brothers - my great-grandsons, Leon and Kian. So much fun that I doubled it!
