i purchased the book to guide me thru this.. it is called the ONE BLOCK WONDER. you virtually cut a stack of fabric (6) and use a 60 degree angle to cut them.. you sew together 6 of them and they turn out kaliedescope looking.. then they all get sewn together however you want your movement to go.

it is made using a 60 degree ruler.. there is a book out for it..ONE BLOCK WONDER, I got mine on amazon. but they are in quilting stores, ebay,, etc.
