Instructions
Unlike the first cake I showed you (which took 8.5 hours to ruffle), this one was half the ruffles and therefore half the time. We realized in this dry of climate that the ruffles were drying out before gravity had a chance to help them fall open, so my husband (the cake artist) did NOT invert this cake. We wanted to feel and hear how it would be if a bride and groom were to cut into layer after layer of hardened gum paste and it's true- it shatters. Next we're going to try buttercream for the bride who doesn't want a shattering wedding cake.
