Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Beginner Serging: Machine Basics & Techniques »

Instructions

Have scraps of fabric and the serger stitch sample workbook handy so you can document the settings for rolled hem, ruffles, 2 thread, 3 thread overlock, and flatlock stitches.

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Style: Retro / Vintage, Cute

Materials

Cotton fabric, nylon thread (textured or "wooly" thread), fray check

What was your inspiration?

I really could not afford buying fabric, so I used fabric I had stored for a while. So this is a very basic piece and I am looking forward to explore creative combinations.

What are you most proud of?

I have finished this project faster than I ever thought while mastering all of the stitches available with my Brother 1034D Serger. Now, I feel like forgetting about sewing with my sewing machine! Is so easy and quick to get things done!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Take the time to watch the videos first so you identify with your serger.
Then do your homework on testing every stitch and document the settings with the handouts given. This really helps to move on to work on each project quickly!
I really enjoyed this class.
=Sorry about my pictures= for the life of me I can't tell why they appear upside down when I upload them....=

Very nice. You did an amazing job!!! Your fabric is perfect. I have the same serger, and I am in love with mine too :-) My pictures also have a tendency to load wrong, so what I have done to fix the issue is to open them in paint and resave them before I upload them.
