What was your inspiration?
This project was directly fueled by the decal my daughter put on the wall in my as-yet-unborn grandson's nursery, and the coordinating curtains I made. The decal was purchased at etsy.com and depicts a dinosaur on a rocket ship, with stars and planets strewn about. The wall is aqua blue and the decal is black. The curtains have a black background with lengthwise stripes of planets, and stars. I used this same fabric in the quilt and coordinated the rest of the blocks. The backing is a non-traditional black with random white dots. It was an easy and fun project.
What are you most proud of?
I did this without a pattern, figuring out the dimensions of the blocks and the finished quilt on my own. Though it's not a complicated pattern, it still takes some planning!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Choose a theme and key colors, or have an inspiration piece, as the curtain fabric and decal were for me. Then have fun choosing fabrics! Happy quilting!
