Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Funky

Materials

Paint and sandpaper

What was your inspiration?

Found this old TV cabinet in a junk store and sanded the old finish a little, painted it with oil based low luster paint, dill pickle as the base coat. Let dry and washed a wood stain over the finish to distress the look. Added decorative appliques and some funky knobs and we have new storage and a flat screen tv stand.

What are you most proud of?

The paint finish turned out awesome

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Take your time between coats. No priming necessary since I used a oil based paint. Not much sanding needed, just enough to scuff it up and wipe clean. Really easy and a great look that would have cost alot more than the $78 it cost to purchase.
