Here are some details about my project:

I am a beginner painting with watercolor but love your teaching style and I am emboldened to just do it. Why not. I know this is a class on painting flowers but I've always been fascinated with old, deteriorating buildings. This is my value painting and I will try to do the same with color. I will do flowers next!

Carol -- I welcome all paintings, so way to go! I live in the country, so I love the texture and shapes of old buildings also. It's a little hard for me to tell in the photo, but it looks like this is your value study (i.e., you used one color?)? If so, and you're willing to practice on it, I'd try to get some more ranges of values by putting in a little sky and clouds. Very nice start -- I would not have guessed you were a beginner. Feel free to post other subjects, since many of the techniques apply to any subject. Happy painting. Mary

Yes, this was my value study. When I turned the photo black & white, the sky became white and it was a cloudless day but I'll go back and work on the sky to get some more medium values. Thanks for your comment.
