Instructions

I wanted to make a test garment for this pattern before I went for it with all of the satin and organza. For this one, I skipped the lining, lower sleeves and overskirt, shortened the skirt and added a ruffle.

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Children

Style: Whimsical, Funky, Cute, Romantic

Materials

Quilting cotton coordinates from Hobby Lobby

What was your inspiration?

When this pattern came out, my daughter was over the moon about it. That was really all it took.

What are you most proud of?

How much she loves it! This is only the test garment, so I know the real costume is going to be a serious hit.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

This is a fairly involved project, if you are making the full dress. The instructions are good and I don't see any reason a beginner couldn't tackle this project, but if you aren't sure about it, try it out first with some inexpensive cotton. You might surprise yourself with how well it works out!
