Not Pretty Over Dyes

Over Dyed Vintage Cloths

Over Dyed Vintage Cloths

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
The Art of Cloth Dyeing »

Instructions

Mainly these all had a green base out of mixes I experimented with. I over dyed 3 with Golden Yellow - one with a small amount of red with the G. Yellow - one with Mixing Red and one with Boysenberry. I was trying for compliments and analogous colors. I might have left them in the dye too long...

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

For: Unisex

Style: Funky

Materials

Mostly Vintage Cotton Dish Towels. My friend and i decided that although they are not pretty there are areas that can be used.

What was your inspiration?

Just learning and experimenting.

Oh I think if you added a lsmall amount of brown to the two on the right they would look good. I sort of like the two on the left. Try ironing them and see if you like them better. For some reason they always do.

I think I'd be afraid of what they would become! :)

With enough dye layers, from what I read, you can start removing some of it to reveal what is underneath, or stamp, paint, print or foil? Ugly won't hurt a thing. You can always put them on the bottom of your stack to find later for a good giggle...

I wish I could remember who said this, but it's true. "Dye it till it's black and then discharge it!" I'm still working on the dyeing part :D
