What was your inspiration?
I found these kraft paper ornaments at Paper Source and wanted to find something to put in them as a little diorama for ornaments. I liked the glittery snowball concept and something that lives in the cold seemed appropriate.
What are you most proud of?
I love the way these turned out. The detailed miniature pipecleaner armatures worked well for the tiny needle felted polar bears, the candy-like sugar-coated snowball exteriors, the cuteness factor and how these ornaments pop and shine when they are on the tree. The little tag that says A Winter Gift pulls it all together.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Have fun experimenting with different scenes. I also made a few deer in Muir Woods while creating my prototypes.
Be patient -there are lots of little steps. Painting the interiers and exteriors of the balls, waiting for them to dry, adding the glitter, needle felting the tiny animals, designing and attaching the little gift tags.
