Pattern Info
Instructions
I kept the top of the dress as instructed by the pattern and added a dirndl skirt for the bottom. I used horse hairbraid for the hem and did the bow feature. I also added a scoop in the back of the dress for added drama!Difficulty:

I used vintage brocade fabric that I purchased on etsy.
What was your inspiration?
I love Doris Day and this fabric and the design of the pattern that I settled on reminded me of something she would have worn in one of her fabulous movies!
What are you most proud of?
So many techniques that I learned while making this dress. I worked with a fabric that I have never worked with before. And to top it off it was vintage. I used horsehair braid which was new to me. AND I changed up the pattern.
I am also very proud of the fact that I wore this to a birthday party, black tie. I received many compliments, and I was the only person wearing color. People really noticed me and the vintage fabric.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Take your time. There was a point when I was sewing this that I said to my husband that I felt that I felt like I was sewing "rags together"!!! I was laughing hysterically too, might I add!
