What was your inspiration?
My only sister is a singer. She sings everywhere, all the time, she has sung for the Queen of England and many, many functions. She sings for enjoyment, she sings when asked, she sings for free and for money. She just loves to sing and she is good at it. I wanted to make her a quilt for lounging and found this beautiful material that is all about music and instruments. I just knew it was what I wanted to make this special gift for her. I used a basic nine patch, and built the quilt without a pattern. This is the end result. I have not quilted this yet, but I am in the process, I am going to use a variety of the materials for a border so the border dances as well.
What are you most proud of?
I decided to "frame" each nine patch square and wanted to give it some variety so I mixed it up a bit, one light, one dark.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Easy peasey!!! This is a great quilt for beginners like me. It's easy to do a nine patch and then add your own adaptation to it.
