I've been thinking about the Holy Spirit lately and wanted to show Him as a Hunter, as Someone who comes after me and draws me ever closely to my Heavenly Father.

Very nice. How was the hawk done?

I found a flying hawk drawing somewhere so I printed it out and used a fine tip sharpie to outline all the feathers. Then I took that to the printers and blew it up to the size I wanted. Then I made 2 copies. Then I took freezer paper and traced a copy. Then I numbered each feather on the freezer paper and on one of the master copies. Still with me?!? Then I placed one of the master copies (the one without any numbers on it) under a sheet of Wonder Under, next to the paper side. The sticky side was up. I needed that sticky side to be sticky like Steam a Seam which is unavailable right now so I sprayed the WU with 505 Basting spray. Then I cut out each feather from the freezer paper, used it as a template by pressing it to the top of the fabric and cut out the fabric. (Each feather is a different fabric). I arranged the tiny pieces on the WU, using the master copy underneath it as a guide. When I was done, I fused it all to the WU.

I ran out of room on letter #1, lol. After the hawk was done on the WU, I peeled off the paper and fused it to the back of a black fabric to give it stability. Then I appliqued it to the quilt top. (After it was in place, carefully sewn down, I trimmed off the seams from the strips underneath it. I did the same with the moon so the lumps from the quilt top didn't show through.)

The Night Hunter is lovely Cathy. Glad to see you have a kitty that helps you with quilting too!

We just adopted her 3 or so months ago from a local animal shelter. She was so skinny and scared. Now she is a little lion, chasing my dogs around and bringing me her toys when she wants to play. She is such a cool cat!

Lovely. All the different fabrics you used in the sky and the mountains give such wonderful depth and intensity.

Thank you!

Lovely quilt. Would love to know more about how you assembled the mountain blocks. Stitched together or appliqued?

Hi, I have a blog and I showed how I put together the combination pieced and appliqued mountains. I laughingly call it piecelique. I don't think I can post a link here, but look up my name and add blogspot.com to it. I just started a blog a couple of months ago so you shouldn't have to look back to far. I think I called it Making Night Hunter or something like that. Let me know if you have any questions once you see it. Thanks for the compliments!
