This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Quick-Strip Paper Piecing »

Instructions

Best thing for me was to just take my time. It's easy to make mistakes if you rush.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Traditional, Classic

Materials

Materials list for the course lesson was very accurate.

What was your inspiration?

Always wanted to try a New York Beauty block but was intimidated. The instructor made it very attainable.

What are you most proud of?

The points came out very accurate. I finished the top in under a week.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Like I said before, just take your time. I referenced the instructor video several times while I was working on the quilt. Don't be afraid to change things up, this is a good quilt to be creative on. The instructions were perfect, and with lots of border options and placement options for the blocks. Thanks Peggy!

Oh my gosh, your quilt just screams out Cotton Candy and spring with the fairs. I really love it, especially as we are coming into winter. Thanks so much for sharing it.

Wow - love your New York Beauty quilt!! Your colors are really wonderful - great contrast for the points and they go beautifully with the floral fabric. I love the effect you got in your pieced border by coloring the corner backgrounds to link up with the previous border and the corner block centers - it creates an entirely different design element there. Great work!

Thanks Peggy, your instructions were incredibly easy to follow and using strips made this go super fast. Looking forward to meeting you in person when you come to my local guild in Spring 13'.

Jim, you quilt is absolutely beautiful. You got me thinking about doing one as a "red and white" quilt, using different reds, thanks!

Maybe it'll inspire someone else to take the course. Unfortunately, my Aunt now wants one in Red, White, and Blue! :-\

Beautifully done! It's a fantastic quilt. Love the fabrics and the color combinations, and the piecing is so precise. Impressive!

I don't really think you can get these kinds of points without paper piecing, at least I wouldn't want to try it! Thanks for your comments!

lovely work - so neat and accurate. The colours work well too. Your boarder if excellent - did you have fun making it? foundation work is sensational - until you have to pull off the paper :)
