What was your inspiration?
We needed a boy's quilt for the Kids for Cancer Program and saw this fabric which made me feel like reaching for the stars and wondering what would feel like out in the sea of black. This is how most children feel when they are fighting cancer.
What are you most proud of?
The different way you can complete a quilt like this. I love to tye the quilts with buttons and found the most perfect turquoise buttons that when sewed on blended right into the quilt. I applique on additional moons and stars onto the border.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Just simplify and go through your mother's, aunts, grandmother's button boxes.
Use use heat bond to help hold the appliques in place while sewing.
