Pattern Info

Pattern info for this project can be found here:
Charm Party Tote »

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Women

Style: Cute, Casual

Materials

Two charm packs (had more squares than I needed, but I used extras to piece the handles!)

What was your inspiration?

I actually won the two charm packs from my local quilt shop, Orange Quilt Bee, and got this pattern at the Long Beach International Quilt Festival last July. It was meant to be. :)

What are you most proud of?

I think it looks really nice and I love making things to use.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Read pattern carefully and take your time. It is quite simple and the sky is the limit on making it differently each time! Embellishments would be cool, funky buttons, trims, etc. I'm already planning Christmas presents!

I made one for a friend while she was going thru breast cancer treatment....had cats on it that looked just like cats she'd owned over the years. She loved it. I called it her 'CAT' tote (cancer attack tote). I'd like to make one for myself sometime too!

I've made this a few times - one for me, some for gifts. Just for fun, make it raggy (I did one with homespun) - no need for lining, It's great for a tote bag - maybe a little large for some to use as a purse. It's easy to cut down the size by just cutting the charm squares down .

I've made about 30 of these. Every one looks different. I usually use one charm pack and 1 yd of fabric. I also did nit do the straps the way the pattern said. I covered 1" webbing for the straps. Very fun. Am Dow doing a smaller version.

I've made this many times over....very nice...and if you use a bigger square on the bottom for yuour base it gives you more room inside...but the square only needs to be a bit larger....the patched charms for the handle just top it off....

A girlfriend made one like this for me. I have pretty much worn it out. She used fusible fleece which simplified it . After the purse days (and I carried it for years, even including my trip to Israel) it is now a great project bag for knitting or piecing. Would love to make another!
