What are you most proud of? This is the first time I've actually quilted; I used the spray-basting technique with 505 basting spray and just stitched in the ditch. I think it would be really cool if it were quilted around the birds in the panels though. Post me a comment if you do that!! Also I like the way the blanket stitch around the edge turned out. I am wayyyy too lazy to finish binding by hand, so I've been trying different things machine-stitching the binding.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? haaaa, don't use poly batting. I like the poofy look but it just doesn't drape well; it looks too stiff :/

LaurelB, you did a wonderful job! I made this very same quilt through a class at Joann Fabrics ... it was actually my first quilt! The fabrics are so pretty! I've been wanting to hand-quilt around the blocks ever since I made it. Nice job on the blanket-stitching!

ahh that would look so good! I'm very afraid to do some free-motion around the birds.... but I have some leftover panels so maybe I will practice with them.

I meant to say, hand-quilt around the BIRDS in each block :)

That looks wonderful! I couldn't find the material you used for the back when I bought the bird panels. I also know how to actually quilt it and have it look good. It's been sitting sandwiched together for a few months while I pondered how to quilt it.

These fabrics were available online at Joann's for some time and I kept looking at them, too. Gorgeous. You did a wonderful job. Thanks for fulfilling a sort of fantasy of mine - to see 'em in a quilt.
