Quilting cotton, adhesive-backed felt, plain acrylic felt, satin ribbon.

What was your inspiration?

I needed somewhere to keep my needles well-organised, and it provided a nice little exercise in designing and piecing with McDowell's freezer paper method.

I used the pattern twice and made two needle cases, so this shows the outside of the one I made for a friend, and the inside of the one I kept, marked up with different needle types and sizes.

What are you most proud of?

Managing to hand-sew through the adhesive-backed felt. I'm not doing that again in a hurry.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Look through your needles, see how many categories they fall into, and then decide how big to make the needle case.

Don't go for adhesive-backed felt!
