What are you most proud of? Helping people make the most of their treasured memories. This beautiful keepsake can be used every day, or hung on a wall for everyone to enjoy.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? If the ties are different widths, you will need to make them a consistent size before you start sewing. Open the tie backs up...they have a lot of fabric in them! Keep the points of the ties intact. You won't have to do anything to finish them...they are already finished!

I didn't use fusible web, but you certainly could. I put the plate together, and then appliqued it to the background fabric. A Dresden plate has 20 petals, and a center circle, so I used 21 ties. The ties were of different fabrics...but the nice thing was, because they all coordinated with blue & black suits, they all looked great together! It's important to open up the center seam of each tie, and take out the interfacing. IMPORTANT!!! Keep the point of the tie intact!!!! You won't have to finish the outer part of the plate, since the tip of each tie (which will be the tip of the petal) is already sewn beautifully! Please let me see your finished project! I think it is a great keepsake! When we opened up a tie that was from the 1940s it had a pin-up girl painted inside!

The great thing about the ties is that they usually coordinate together well, since they were purchased to wear with black, navy & gray suits. There isn't a great range of colors when you work with the ties that belong to one person!

What a beautiful and lasting memory/gift for someone that has lost a spouse, parent, etc. I recently saw a fashionable ruffled, ascot type neckware made from two ties. Would anyone have that pattern? Looked very chic with a business suit or plain dress.
